a note from denise
There are certain moments in life when food says what words can’t.
I grew up surrounded by women who baked for their families, their neighbors, and their communities. Food was how they showed care. It was how people gathered, celebrated, and supported one another when words didn’t quite fit.
I didn’t realize how deeply that stayed with me until one particular day.
I remember the day my mother died. A neighbor showed up at our door with blueberry muffins. It’s a small detail, but I can still recall how powerful that moment felt. I remember thinking, this is how I know it’s real, she's gone—people are bringing food.
That moment stayed with me.
When I moved into my first home, my mom gave me a KitchenAid mixer. It sat on the counter like it had always belonged there. That’s where I began—testing recipes, adjusting, starting over, and slowly finding my own rhythm in the kitchen.
Buttercup Home Bakery is my way of continuing that tradition.
I’ve always been drawn to beautiful presentation—whether it’s cakes, cookies, or gatherings—where small details quietly make things feel more special.
Today, I bake for all kinds of moments—book clubs, brunches, family gatherings, and the quieter times when someone simply wants to show up for another person.
Everything I make is meant to be shared.
Behind the scenes Tom, my husband, is part of every step—from prepping in the kitchen to designing labels and delivering each order with care. He’s my partner in all of it, helping bring Buttercup Bakery to life in ways both seen and unseen.
Whether you’re hosting, celebrating, or sending something thoughtful, I hope you find something here that helps you show up for the people in your life.
